It's time to go Solo
Solo was launched on 1st July 1997 by the Switch Card Scheme, then one of
the world's leading domestic payment systems. Like its sister card Switch - which has now changed its name to Maestro,
Solo is a fully electronic debit card and is just as convenient to use
to pay for everyday goods & services.
However, Solo offers a different level of financial control and reassurance:
every transaction is authorised, so cardholders can only spend what is
available in their account. This financial control with Switch-style convenience
has brought sophisticated personal banking to new groups of customers.
New products are essential to the improvement of customer service: Solo
was designed to meet the needs of those who had not had a debit card.
Now there are 5.3 million cards in circulation.
